Whew! You've cleaned the kitchen, and your sink shines. You've put all the cleaning tools in the cupboard, and you're heading towards the sink to wash the dish you found in your playroom. What's this smell?
A stinky sink can occur, even in the cleanest kitchens. The water that remains in the sink's trap beneath your sink can occasionally allow mildew and mold to develop.
We're going to assume that you've not used commercial drain cleaners in your kitchen sink. These products can sometimes interact with different ingredients, which is why we don't wish to see that occur.
Pour 1/2 cup baking soda into the sink. If your funnel is a good one, that's great. If you don't, make sure to be extra cautious so that it won't get in the way as you'd like it to. Pour 1 cup white vinegar just behind it and wait for the reaction immediately. Take about 15 minutes to wait until the froth has settled, and then run hot water through the drain for around 1 minute.
The combination of the two ingredients produces the formation of a natural substance that can hopefully rid the pipes of unpleasant smells. If you believe that the issue remains in the sink trap, contact us. We are passionate about tackling drain smell issues!
